Resilience, innovation, systems-thinking, and collaboration are core values that help drive my leadership. I am passionate about raising awareness for accessibility concerns, especially for young children. I am also passionate regarding promoting technical interdisciplinary skills to improve workplace readiness and innovation. When creating this program, I saw a need and I saw resources to be able to meet that need. Why shouldn’t we strive to create change when we have the capability to do so? The answer is simple, we should! Even in small ways everyone has the capacity to create change– there are no requirements. Moving forward, I hope to be able to convince others to spend time volunteering or working alongside others to create change in their community. An insignificant action to you could mean the world to someone else, creating a big impact in a small way.

Mission: Mini-Movers at Purdue seeks to increase interdisciplinary skills for undergraduates, raise disability awareness, and increase mobility for young kids with disabilities.

Vision: Mini-Movers spreads awareness of childhood disabilities by hosting public events and educating its members through the lens of adaptive toys. Mini-Movers increases interdisciplinary skills of undergraduates by providing the opportunity and resources for members to exercise design ideation, prototyping, and 3D printing. Mini-Movers increase mobility for young kids by providing them with a retrofitted power wheel vehicle suited to their needs and an equal opportunity in engaging with childhood experiences.

Social impact leadership is being willing to help others make a meaningful difference within a community. As a social impact leader, it is your responsibility to provide the opportunity for others to learn and create change in a community. Taking the time to promote social challenges requires a commitment to advocacy and positivity. Some core principles are vision, empathy, collaboration, and communication. Working alongside others to create change is a cornerstone of social impact. This means being able to promote an initiative through vision and empathy, helps to spread the impact and connect people in various communities. Vision allows followers to understand how creating change  happens. Empathy allows followers to understand why creating change is important. Creating change starts with an idea and passionate leaders. Leaders that work with others, communicate effectively, and display ambition are able to create more impact for all. When a leader is passionate and willing to embrace challenges, it becomes inspirational for potential followers. Creating change flourishes with a group effort and resilience. Being able to adapt around adversity and continuously strive for change creates a stronger organization. Collaborating with others to foster a culture of interdisciplinary learning is vital to creating change. Building partnerships and connections to work as a team allows initiatives to grow together and continuously improve. Leaders can empower their team through creating the collaborative opportunities, promoting shared decision making, and encouraging diverse perspectives.
